First week at my new school: Pei Hwa Secondary School

At last this week has came! Well, I wasn't really looking forward to it actually.. Because all I thought about was that 'I'll miss my friends' and nothing else. But well, it turned out that Pei Hwa wasn't bad at all.

I was very very nervous at the first day. I went there by taxi with my mom and my dad, and we arrived at school super fast. We already arrived before 7, and the school starts at around 8.30. Well, of course we didn't know, If we knew that we wouldn't have arrived that fast. But never mind, better to be early than late, especially on the first day of school.

So when we arrived, we met Mr Tan, and then we had a little talk with the VP, she introduced us to Mr Beng, my form teacher, and then she said that the teachers will be having a meeting on every Monday, so the school won't start as early as usual. Well, that's good then :)

We sat at the canteen and waited, and at last Mr Beng came, and then he took me to the class. My class is 3E2, there are 41 students (including me). At first I sat at the back, but then Mr Beng changed my seat with Boon Kuan, so now I'm sitting in the middle.

At the first day, it turned out that there was a NAPFA test after school, and I didn't bring my PE attire! So I had to buy a new set at the school book store -_-. I think I failed one of the tests, the sit & reach test. Hmm it's quite weird actually, becase I think I can reach quite a long distance, and now I failed! Hmm weird. But anyway, I got an A on the shuttle run :D

The next day, it turned out that there was another test! And I didn't bring my PE attire again! Well actually, I already guessed that there will be another test, but it was already too late. I was already on the way to school when I realized that. So at school I had to borrow a PE attire from the general office.

The third day, there wasn't any test anymore, but I still had to bring my PE attire because there was a sport session in the morning. After school there was an English and Social Studies acer. I didn't know at first, so I didn't bring my Social Studies book, but never mind.

On the fourth day, the Mid Year Exams started. The first exam was English. Hmm I didn't know whether I did good or not.. But I hope I will. Anyway, my Mid Year Exam results won't be recorded for the Final Exams, so I'm quite lucky..

The fifth day was the Malay Mid Year Exam. Hmm actually it's not quite hard.. But Malay is different from Indonesian, so I don't know whether my answers were right or not. But anyway, I went home to Indonesia on the fifth day. Monday (3.04.10) is a public holiday, so my father said why don't we go back to Indonesia. Of course I was happy with this invitation! :D

So now I'm in Indonesia, but I'll be going back on Monday. Anyway, the National Exams (UN) will be announced on 7th May!! Wow, I can't wait to see my results.. I hope they're satisfying :D

This Week Inside the Galaxy: 2010-Episode 6

In this week's episode of This Week Inside the Galaxy, we look ahead to the Galaxy's first match against the expansion Philadelphia Union and back to the Brit Night Celebrity Soccer Match.

Galaxy Look to Keep Eye on The Prize Against Expansion Union

The Galaxy are back at home this weekend as they take on the expansion Philadelphia Union on Saturday night at The Home Depot Center. The Union are 0-3-0 on the road so far in their debut MLS season while the Galaxy are a perfect 3-0-0 at home on the campaign.

Saturday’s game against the Union will be the first-ever game between the two sides. Last year, the Galaxy were 0-1-1 against the expansion Seattle Sounders FC, playing to a 1-1 draw at Qwest Field in May and losing 2-0 at The Home Depot Center in August.

Since MLS first expanded in 1998, the Galaxy are 10-5-3 against expansion teams, including a 7-3-0 mark at home. The Galaxy split their inaugural season series with both expansion teams in 1998, going 2-2 against Chicago and 1-1 against Miami. MLS next expanded in 2005 and LA won both of those series, sweeping Chivas USA with a 4-0-0 record and going 2-1-1 against Real Salt Lake. The Galaxy also won the season series with Toronto FC in 2007, tallying a 1-0-1 record against them.

While those numbers foreshadow a one-sided affair, Bruce knows that the team still has to play their game in order to get the full three points against Peter Nowak's side. As a result, the players went through a complete training session this afternoon in order to stay sharp and hopefully get back to their winning ways.

With that thought in mind, everyone stayed out on the field for some extra finishing work. Edson is still the only Galaxy player with a goal this season, leaving the rest of the squad chomping at the bit.

We caught up with a few of the guys to see what they had to say going into tomorrow night's matchup.

Don't Miss Letterman Tonight!

David Beckham will be a guest on the “Late Show with David Letterman” tonight at 11:35 p.m. on CBS. Below is a portion of the interview, just to tease you, so be sure to tune in tonight for the complete interview.

Medieval Times

Yesterday I went to Henry's medieval feast at school. His very enthusiastic teacher has been covering medieval England since January and Henry got to be the "village" bishop. He built a plaster cathedral earlier in the year and had to do a presentation in bishop's garb. Yesterday was the culmination of the unit featuring a feast of chicken, carrots, bread, pie and apple juice masquerading as wine. They also had a knighting, a joust, a battle re-enactment, a dance and poetry reading. See? Enthusiastic.

So, I was volunteering by handing out food and drinks and a sweet yet forward little girl approached me for more "wine".

"Who's mum are you?"
"I'm Henry's mum."
"Henry's mu...? But you... and he... he looks just like you" (said quietly as she was walking away)

I'm so used to this reaction that I just laugh it off now. It was actually quite funny. When my kids were younger I used to cry about it. Now I've become all philosophical and shoulder shruggy about it. So the kids don't resemble me. Meh. I know, and more importantly they know, they're my kids. But there's still a small part of me that feels jealous when I see a mother and her spitting image brood go by. Out of 3 kids, it would have been nice to have just one "Mini Me".

Oh well.

Hritik New Dance Mesro-"Fire Dance in Kites"

Hotest gossip in B-Town Hritik and his Fire Dance in forth coming movie "Kites".In his 10 years in the industry, Hrithik Roshan has never hesitated from experimenting, and this time around his forthcoming release will sport electronic dance music. Directed by Anurag Basu, Kites is an Indian man's love story with a beautiful Latin woman, who comes into his life like a bolt of lightning, and changes it forever.

The songs in Kites are mostly romantic and melodious. Hrithik on the other hand wanted something upbeat and contemporary, and preferred some trance. To give Rajesh Roshan a fair idea of what He really wanted, he made his uncle hear trance music from all over the world.

Sources said, “The song 'Fire' gives a completely different feeling from the other songs in Kites. Hrithik logged on to Youtube to make his uncle hear different tracks. Hrithik wanted Rajesh Roshan to listen to a few International Artists he had heard in clubs to give him the feel of what he wanted the track to actually be like.”

The song invokes a rather ecstatic state, closing down the connection to the outside world which is exactly what Hrithik felt about trance music. After days of hard work and research, Rajesh Roshan finally managed to compose a tune which Hrithik liked.
Sources added, “Hrithik made his uncle sing a line, and the next thing we knew was that Hrithik wanted his him to sing the song. He really liked Rajesh Roshan’s high pitched singing. The track was co-created by musician Vishal Dadlani, who sung the antra following Rajesh Roshan’s powerful mukhda.
Every body is waiting for release of kitse to see the dancing mestro.

In a nearly unanimous vote, Galaxy forward Edson Buddle has been named the MLS Player of the Month for March/April. Click here to read about the announcement and we'll have more from Edson later today.

Back at it

The guys were off yesterday but they are back on the field this afternoon to ramp up their preparation ahead of Saturday's game against the Union.

But while the players and coaches were off, Luis Bueno and Larry Morgan have been busy with a number of pieces over at lagalaxy.com looking ahead to both this weekend's game against Philadelphia as well as next month's friendly with Boca Juniors.

A bit further south, Mark Zeigler of the San Diego Union News caught up with Jovan Kirovski to get his thoughts on his position with the club and his love of the game.

Finally, Landon was a guest of the Tony Bruno Show on Fox Sports Radio last night, chatting with the host about the Galaxy's hot start to the season, the Champions League Final pairing of Landon's former club Bayern Munich and Inter Milan and of course this summer's World Cup.

You can listen to the interview in its entirety here - just fast forward to the 24:20 mark for the complete 10-minute interview.

Emergency form stress

So the school sent home a form to register the kids for next year. On it they ask for an emergency contact number and I never know what to do with that. I naturally want to put down my dad or inlaws but none of them live closer than 30 minutes away. Isn't the point of an emergency contact to be able to go and pick up your children quickly in the event of a disfiguring catastrophe and the parents are chillin' at the day spa?

I usually use the one of the neighbours. They were all here when we moved in 11 years ago and the kids and I like them. The only problem is, although we have their phone numbers and emails, we don't even know their last names. I wave to them on a daily basis but I only see them on their own property. So if we bump into each other somewhere else, it takes a good 5 minutes for me to realize who they even are. Lame. And I'm entrusting our children to these virtual strangers?

At least we've never had to use the number {knocking furiously on the computer desk} and I thank goodness every day that I'm a stay-at-home-mum. Even though I'm a bit nutty, I'm the emergency contact.

Champions League Semifinal Score Card + Results (Watch Vedio)

Finally Inter Milan enters Champions League final‎ . Barcelona were looking to become the first side to overcome a two-goal deficit to reach the Champions League final, and their task was made easier in the 28th minute when Thiago Motta was shown a straight red card for a slight push to Sergi Busquets's face.
Gerard Pique showed exquisite poise to break the deadlock in the 84th minute, but Inter defended valiantly to preserve their aggregate lead and thwart the tournament favourites with a master-class of disciplined defending and dogged resistance to secure their first spot in a European Cup final for 38 years.
Substitute Bojan Krkic slammed an emphatic finish into the top corner of the net in stoppage-time, but the goal was disallowed for a handball in the build-up as the full-time whistle prompted a delirious reaction from Mourinho and the Inter players who charged onto the pitch in jubilation.
The Portuguese boss initially named the same line-up which prevailed 3-1 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, before Goran Pandev was hastily withdrawn with defender Cristian Chivu stepping in just 10 minutes before kick-off.
Pep Guardiola adopted a three-man back line as a fervent atmosphere was generated inside the 96,000 capacity Nou Camp and the drama mounted as a result of his counterpart's late switch.
Motta was booked for hauling down former Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in just the 10th minute, and the Swede was furiously clutching his ripped shirt moments later after some over-zealous marking from Walter Samuel.
Xavi, who was closely marshalled by Wesley Sneijder throughout, finally evaded the Dutchman in the 20th minute, but Chivu made an impeccable intervention as he looked to slip a through ball in for Lionel Messi, who was lurking ominously beyond the Romanian. Four minutes later, the ever-sprightly Dani Alves hurtled down the right and whipped over a pinpoint delivery for Pedro, who met the ball on the volley, but could not direct his effort on target. The game then took a dramatic twist as Motta was ruthlessly dismissed by referee Frank De Bleeckere after thrusting his arm behind him to catch Busquets, who took a exaggerated tumble to ensure the Brazilian received his marching orders. It was a dubious decision to say the least.A flare-up ensued as the Inter players confronted Busquets over his theatrical response, and both coaches were involved as tempers were frayed and the match further grew in intensity. Messi looked to have finally shaken off the shackles placed on him by Mourinho's superbly-drilled defensive unit as he cut inside Samuel and fired an exquisite shot towards the far post just after the hour mark, but Julio Cesar somehow tipped the ball wide with a stunning save at full-length.
Barcelona grew increasingly frustrated as the first half petered out with Inter absorbing wave after wave of pressure from the hosts, and Samuel made a courageous block to deny Ibrahimovic from close range as an eventual opening looked to have materialised.
Inter made a belated entrance after the break to leave their hosts waiting out on the field, and Guardiola made the only change as Maxwell replaced Gabriel Milito.
Barcelona's build-up play continued to be patient as the second half unfolded, and Inter were more than happy to absorb the pressure and defend stubbornly, deep inside their own half.
The hosts appealed vehemently for a penalty on the hour mark, but there was again minimal contact as Esteban Cambiasso tussled away furiously with Ibrahimovic, who was promptly replaced by Bojan. Barcelona's pressure was incessant as the second half wore on, but substitute Bojan squandered a glorious opportunity in the 82nd minute to reduce the deficit as he headed wide from close-range after meeting Messi's pinpoint cross from out on the left. In a desperate late bid to break the deadlock, Guardiola employed defender Pique as an auxiliary striker, and the move paid off six minutes from time: the Spaniard showed sublime poise to swivel inside the diving Lucio and Cesar, then planted a cool finish into the empty net to send the Nou Camp into delirium. The hosts piled forward in their droves in an enthralling finale, and substitute Bojan slammed an emphatic finish into the top corner of the net, only for referee Bleeckere to disallow the strike due to an inadvertent handball by Yaya Toure in the build-up. Guardiola called for a 'festival of football' before the match, but it was a clinical and professional performance which ensured that Mourinho's Inter prevailed over the two dramatic legs to set up a clash with Bayern Munich in their first European Cup final since 1972.

Galaxy Raw - Week 6

Galaxy Raw is your mid-week fix for all of the sights and sounds from training served up raw and unfiltered. In this edition, we get to watch a bit of training and then join in as media talk with Galaxy players and coaches about the club's international friendly against Boca Juniors on May 23 at 5pm at the HDC.

This is why I shop every week

In case you were wondering, here's how long household items last in my house:

500g butter: 6 days
1 bag of milk: 1 maybe 2 days
one roll of toilet paper: 1 day
one loaf of bread: 1 day
a frosted layer cake: 3 days
a family sized bag of cookies: 3 days
a family sized box of cereal: one week
1 kg of cheese: 1 week
1 can of concentrated OJ: 3 days
1 kg of strawberries: 1 day
18 eggs: one week (I bake a lot and we often have quiche night)
a box of kleenex: a week
bar of soap: 2 weeks (oh, the damage they'll do when they actually bathe themselves)
a tank of gas: 10 days
8 teaspoons (Not a typo. Mysteriously they constantly go missing): 6 months

Funnily enough, any and all vegetables, unless they're in cans or frozen, go completely bad. I don't know why I bother. Also, where are those jellybeans I had hidden in the pantry?

Below are the Interview Questions, which were asked in HR Round.....

No one will GET second chance to impress....Very very Impressive Questions and Answers..... ...

Question 1:

You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night, it's raining heavily, when suddenly you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for a bus: An old lady who looks as if she is about to die. An old friend who once saved your life. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about. Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing very well that there could only be one passenger in your car? This is a moral/ethical dilem ma that was once ac tually used as part of a job application.

* You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first;
* or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to! pay him back.
* However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.
The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble comingup with his answer. Guess what was his answer?

He simply answered:
"I would give the car keys to my Old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams."

Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations. Never forget to "Think Outside of the Box."

Aku pergi ketika musim bunga...tak kisah lagi..memang dah lumrah.

Wonderful one minute...(I Wish I Could.)

One smart Software Engineer and his Project Manager were traveling towards Pune in a train. Just Opposite to their seat, a beautiful girl was sitting Along with her grand ma.Within some time, Eye to Eye interactions started between Our Software Engineer & that girl.
After some minutes, train started moving in to a tunnel and it was very Dark. Suddenly, every body heard a kiss sound followed by a sound of slapping. Every body remained silent, when the train came out of the tunnel. Grand ma thought that, "The Guy is a rogue; how dare he did this? He kissed My grand daughter! But my Grand daughter is genuine; she immediately Slapped that guy." The Project Manager thought that," I can't believe that this guy has kissed that girl! But it is unfair that she slapped me by mistake"
That girl thought that," I feel happy, when that guy kissed me, but I feel sorry that my grand ma has slapped him". Finally, the Software engineer thought?
"This one minute in my life is wonderful, it hardly comes...because, at a time I have kissed a girl and also I have slapped my Project Manager". :)

Getting arrested

Add Image

Scott and I were watching the news yesterday as a G8 (or whatever the number is up to) protester got dragged off by riot police into a paddy wagon. I turned to him and said: "I don't think I believe in anything enough to be arrested for it. I mean if my family or home were threatened, it goes without saying but for farting cows or the right to shoot your mouth off in public or something? No way. What about you?"

He said "You just aren't that type of person. If I knew there was an injustice that by protesting I could change, I would definitely do it."

I ignored the obvious insult to my moral character and thought: Was there really nothing in the world I believed in enough to allow myself to get dragged off on the National News and denied access to my makeup case? I wracked my selfish little brain and came up empty. Looks like Gassy Bossy is on her own.

IPL Chairman Lalit Modi Suspended From The BCCI

NEW DELHI: In a clear indication that BCCI plans to concentrate on fallen IPL commissioner Lalit Modi while the heat on his one-time mentor Sharad Pawar will begin to ebb, the cricket body's chief Shashank Manohar on Monday said there was no evidence against the NCP boss or his relatives.

Responding to questions in Mumbai, Manohar was categoric in giving Pawar a clean chit even as he announced a slew of charges against Modi who has been suspended from the BCCI. The sentiment was echoed by other BCCI leaders who said there was "nothing on paper" against the agriculture minister or his colleague Praful Patel.

The BCCI stance not only makes it clear that the separation between Pawar and Modi is complete despite the proximity they have enjoyed over the past several years. It will be Modi who will face the music from BCCI and government agencies that are probing IPL funding and tax evasion allegations. As far as Pawar is concerned, the firewall seems firmly in place.

This might suit Congress as well as the UPA lead player does not intend to destablise the NCP chief through income-tax investigations or the political uproar over IPL's murky dealings. The consensus in political circles is that Congress was more interested in bruising Pawar and bringing him down a few notches further in terms of standing and relations with his larger ally.

BCCI's post-Modi focus also indicates this line of action as officials are trying to trace controversial contracts like TV and internet rights that are linked to Modi rather than Pawar. It is being pointed out that the hundreds of papers that have gone missing include those relating to the contract between the Board, Multi Screen Media and World Sports Group that generated considerable controversy for an $80 million facilitation fee.

Sources said Pawar did try and urge Modi to quit ahead of the Monday meeting as that would have eased the pressure for a full-fledged inquiry that chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty will now carry out. Modi's open defiance left the Board with no option but to act harshly. Owner of Bangalore's Royal Challengers Vijay Mallya was part of the effort to cajole Modi into quitting.
Ironically, just a few days ago Modi associate Punjab cricket chief I S Bindra had met BCCI members to suggest a peace deal of sorts. Bindra had reportedly said that Modi could be suspended instead of being asked to go right away. This would hold the possibility of his being reinstated while resigning was as good as an admission of guilt.
BCCI sources argue that Modi had to be suspended once he declared that he would call and chair a meeting of the governing council while one had already been summoned. There could not be two meetings and Modi was not to be allowed to chair any council meeting.Hope for the best.

"Aku Tahu Sangat-Sangat"

So guess where I've been?

To not one but two passport offices. And if you will be so kind as to check the time? Yes, home before 11am. You know I just have to say that we here in Canada get too much information from the US. Or maybe we just watch too much stand-up comedy. Because going to a government office is an absolute breeze. Nearly a pleasure.

The first office, which is near my house, had me get in a line like the bank. You know where there's one line that breaks up into several wickets. I was behind one other person and there were only 2 wickets open. When I got up to the guy (in about 5 minutes), he told me I needed birth certificates (which I had forgotten) and that they may not be ready in a timely fashion. He suggested I go downtown if I wanted them faster. Ugh.

So after a quick stop at home for the paperwork I forgot, it was back on the road to the downtown main office. When I got there, I waited another 5 minutes at the info desk guy who looked over my stuff, gave me a number and told me where to wait. I sat in a sea of people waiting for my number to get called. I was thinking it would take at least an hour. But when I looked up I saw that I was only 4 numbers away. Still it was about a 15 minute wait. Pretty good. Long enough to people-watch but not too long so that those same people start grossing you out. I can't wait for the contact lens camera that takes a photo when you blink hard to be invented because there were lots of notable people there:

  • the girl with the full sleeve of tattoos that was nursing her toddler (one of the tats was a half an avocado I kid you not)
  • the ska band escapee with his white-boy dreads tied up in an untidy bun (do dreads ever look tidy?)
  • the man with the mullet outfit: dress-shirt buttoned to the neck and shorts. To complete the look... black socks and sandals (business on top, party on the bottom and a just a soupçon of crazy)
  • the chatterer (there's one in every group): the lady that talked to everyone who sat beside her and no, she wasn't me
So now I'm home and the whole thing was a pleasure. We're all set. Even the $10 parking charge for a mere 30 minutes was painless because the attendants were helpful and funny. I'd rather not specify what exactly happened to lead me to that conclusion. Just let me say that they really pack those cars like sardines in those lots.
