After a couple of days off, the team returned to the training field this afternoon for the first time since Saturday’s game against Real Madrid. With Bruce Arena in New York for his induction to the National Soccer Hall of Fame, Dave Sarachan and Cobi Jones ran the fast-paced, 90 minute session. The pair led the team through the day’s training, stressing ball possession and defending as a group while the players competed in a series of short sided games.
With all of that happening on the field, there was also plenty happening on the sidelines as a large group of children from the Palos Verdes AYSO were in attendance, cheering on every goal or save.
Having had two days off before today’s session, the guys finished with some fitness work in preparation for their next match against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday in New Jersey. The club will hold their final training session at The Home Depot Center tomorrow before departing for the East Coast on Thursday, where they will meet up with the absent quartet of Edson Buddle, Landon Donovan, Omar Gonzalez and Donovan Ricketts, as well as Bruce Arena.
