What part of "illegal" does Rep. Hostettler not understand? According to Congressional Quarterly, in April 2004, Rep. John
Hostettler (the chairman of the House Immigration Subcommittee) was detained for carrying a loaded firearm inside an airport. He called the incident a "stupid mistake," explaining that he had carried the gun while traveling through his district during a congressional recess and forgot it was in his bag. Hostettler pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed deadly weapon and received a 60-day suspended sentence. Rep. Hostettler's own actions appear to contradict his hardline no-holds-barred enforcement approach towards immigration. Although he excuses his breaking of the law as a mistake, his actions indicate that some laws are OK to break and others are not. Perhaps Rep. Hostettler should reflect on whether undocumented aliens or our nation's broken immigration system is at fault.

I got RFE for my spouse in August 2008 for I-485 regrading the marriage certificate and stil the status hasn't got update, called several times but no luck.

The only question i have is, my employer though a bank, is not willing to give me a copy of my I140 WHATSOEVER. I tried numerous times and they only say that the attorney (FRAGOMEN) has advised not to give the copy of I140 to the beneficiary. With the banks you know..they may be around or shut any time.
Can you please advise, COPY OF I140 IS REQUIRED, for porting the priority date to new employer?

You can file a FOIA request to get a copy of your approved I-140. There are other folks in this forum who have done that successfully.

I don't think so.. Back in 2002 I was in similar situation (f1 to h1) and to best of my knowledge I was only able to get part of my federal taxes back.. In fact I remember paying some additional state taxes at the end of the year.
If I was on F1 full time for that accounting year then they would have given my taxes (not ssn or medicare) back but I switched to H1 and made more money, which pushed me into a different tax bracket.

Mine is similar case. While sending the application he missed the 2 pages of my wife's I485 application. He said he will try to send it again. Not sure what happens. :-((
Did you got the Rejected notice back? These lawyers are big A**** they don't do proper job after getting money. In the mean time pls have all your congressmen and senator info ready to contact in case of rejection.

I do not if I had the same situation as yours - however, this is what happened to me:
1. I completed the Masters in 2003 - all course work and required credits by fall of 2003. PD for the LC was on Oct 28, 2003. I skipped the convocation ceremony (due to lack of funds) - yes, I lived on Campbell soup for 3 months. Initially, I had planned on attending it - however, circumstances changed. After some work, I got the degree on March 2004.
I got an RFE saying I wasn't eligible because I got my Masters after I applied for Labor. So first of all I got the letter from the dean of the university detailing the chronological events of credits completion and a justification for getting the late degree (stating about convocation and missing it). The lawyer drafted a response and referred to the dates in the letter issued by the dean and dates on when the credits were issued citing the administrative delays on my part.
Put it all together and send it and I-140 got rejected after 3 months. Then we opened a MTR and resend the package again and everything went through. Its not a death blow, but it involves quite a bit of running around to get a letter from the university and then have the dean approve it.

Kevin, I often use the technique of "developing" 3 or more images from a single raw file and then blend them using layer masks. For some reason, adobe's automated HDR doesn't work from such images though. It wants 3 real files shot at different exposures. I have no idea why.

Hi Gurus,
I have 2 pending I485's at Nebraska. I got EAD and AP from the first set, but nothing from the second set except the receipt notice. I'm traveling to India on my first set AP. Will I run into any problems at the port of entry since I have 2 sets of I485's pending? Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thank you.
