The Cave City of Vardzia in Georgia:World Tourism

One of the most famous ancient monuments of Georgia is located in Vardzia near the Armenian border. Built in the twelfth century, during the Golden Age of Georgia, by Giorgi III, this city of caves was originally intended as a military fortress.

At Mount Erusheli in southern Georgia State in the territory's history Samcche, near Aspindza. Precisely located on the left edge of the Mtkvari River, there is a historic building which was founded by Queen Tamar in 1185, in the form of a cave city Vardzia.

Cave city Vardzia also called Rock Vardzia Monastery is the largest architectural and historic complex in Georgia. Built carved and cut by steep rock cliffs. These buildings have a size of about 900 meters wide and 70 meters high.

Vardzia is remarkable cave city, which in its heyday housed 50,000 people, was actually carved into the side of the rocky cliffs. The entire cave complex is situated high up in the mountains to keep it safe from invading hordes. Vardzia is a very special place, considered a cultural symbol and a source of pride to Georgians, and a must-see for tourists who travel to Georgia.

In the modern days Vardzia is a major tourist attraction in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia. The place is maintained by a small group of monks and can be visited for a small fee. Marshrutkas go to Vardzia daily from the city of Akhaltsikhe.

About three hundred apartments and halls remain visitable and in some tunnels the old irrigation pipes still bring drinkable water.

Off the coast of Cancun in Mexico, opened a new underwater sculpture of "tacit evolution" of the artist Jason Taylor. The exhibition presents 400 sculptures made in full size.

The works are at a depth of 10 meters on an ad hoc basis weight of 2 tons. The entire composition is made from environmentally friendly materials. Sculptures are designed not only to entertain tourists, but also to improve the marine environment: coral sculptures obrastut and will serve as home to many species of marine animals.

Incredible India !!! Cherapunji Waterfalls at Meghalaya.

You have visited many places in India.Everybody knows about Taj Mahal of Agra,Red Fort of New Delhi, Ajanta caves etc...This time I would like to take your attention to the Natural Beauty of Incredible India. Believe it or not this place is belongs to India, the Wettest Place, Cherapunji, “the abode of clouds”.

The original name for this town was Sohra, pronounced as "Churra" by the British before morphing into the present one. Despite perennial rain, Cherrapunji faces an acute water shortage and the inhabitants often have to trek for miles to obtain potable water. Irrigation is also hampered due to excessive rain washing away the topsoil as a result of human encroachment into the forests. Now the Meghalaya State government has decided to rename Cherrapunjee to its local name "Sohra". There is a monument to David Scott (British Administrator in NE India, 1802–31) in Cherrapunji cemetery.

Cherapanjee is a town of constant waterfalls and mysterious caves with numerous stalactites. Driving here can be called one of the most thrilling ever, as you will enjoy numerous waterfalls and clouds.

Cherrapunji is perhaps the only place in India, which has just one season: the monsoon. The rainfall varies from heavy to medium to light, but there is no month without rain. Another surprising fact about Cherrapunji is that it rains mostly at night. Day-to-day activity is not really disrupted by the rain.

Mawsmai Falls-the fourth highest in India-lie just a few kilometers beyond Cherrapunji.Close by is situated a fascinating labyrinth of underground passages beneath age-old caves-a veritable dream for amateur explorers. Elsewhere around Cherrapunji, Khasi monoliths (stones in memory of their ancestors) lie dotted around-a vague reminder of the forests of Bastar.

Amidst all the surprises of Cherrapunji, perhaps the most abiding is the startling realization that the wettest place on earth where it rains every month also has an amazing amount of warm sunshine. When the clouds drift away, there are a series of memorable views, and one can see as far as Bangladesh. Orchids blooming a few feet away form a patch devoid of vegetation. Dense woods interspersed by rocky, cliffs furrowed by erosion.

Khasi Monoliths : Near the Mawsmai falls in Meghalaya, lies scattered some rock stones laid down in the memory of the forefathers. The place has some underground tunnels and passages too which would be an exciting adventure ride for adventure enthusiasts.

Mawsmai Falls : This is the fourth highest waterfall in India with a height of 1035 feet. The place offers beautiful scenery where you can relax.

Orchid gardens : You can check out the orchids blooming in several parts of Cherrapunji. Moreover, you can also check out the vegetation of Bangladesh which is easily visible from the wet land.

Church of St. Francis Biggest Church In Goa

One of the biggest church i had ever visited is St francis church in Goa. While i was on my tour to Goa with my friends for one week i stated for one week.We stated in South Goa and hired a Activa.All of us traveled south Goa on Ride.Transport are easily available whether two wheel or four wheelers.

Architecture of the Building

The Church of St. Francis has been designed very finely. The church is much smaller than the Se Cathedral and the Basilica of Bom Jesus, and although it’s heavily painted and there are profusely carved altars, the aura is one of muted dignity. The pattern painted on the ceiling near the door has a distinct Indian touch to it. The architecture is a combination of the Tuscan style from the exterior and the Mosaic-Corinthian style from the interior. The interior of the church is gilded with the scenes from the Bible and wall frescoes show intricate floral designs. The niche of the façade holds the statue of St Michael and a wooden statue of St Francis Assisi decorates the pedestal in one of its chapel. A heavily carved niche with tabernacle supported by four evangelists can be seen in the main altar. Two huge statues, one of St Francis Assisi and the other of the Jesus on the Cross, are placed above the tabernacle.

The Architectural Grandeur

The exterior of the Church is of the Tuscan Order while the main entrance is in Manuline style. The main altar is Baroque with Corinthian features. There are no aisles but only a nave, which is rib-vaulted. The internal buttress walls, separating the chapels and supporting the gallery on top, have frescoes showing intricate floral designs.

In a niche on the facade, stands a statue of our lady of miracles brought from Jaffna in Sri Lanka. A wooden statue of St. Francis of Assisi adorns a pedestal bearing the insignia of the Franciscans. A wooden pulpit, richly carved with floral designs is to the left as one enters. Beneath a ribbed vault with frescoes showing floral decorations, is the main altar, which is gilded and has a richly carved niche with a tabernacle supported by the four evangelists.

The Tabernacle

The tabernacle was used for displaying the holy sacrament. Above the tabernacle, in the main altar, is a large statue of St. Francis of Assisi and an equally large statue of Jesus on the cross. Beneath the two figures are inscribed the three vows of the Saint - poverty, humility and obedience. On either side of the main altar, in the nave, are beautiful large paintings on wood, depicting scenes from the life of St. Francis

Y said, "In my house, I take decisions on bigger issues where as my wife decides on smaller issues. We do not interfere in each other's decisions."

Still not convinced, X asked Y "Give me some examples"

Y said, "Smaller issues like which car we should buy, how much amount to save, when to visit home town, which Sofa, air conditioner, refrigerator to buy, monthly expenses, whether to keep a maid or not etc are decided by my wife. I just agree to it"

X asked, "Then what is your role?"

Y said, "My decisions are only for very big issues. Like whether America should attack Iraq, whether Britain should lift sanction over Zimbabwe, whether to widen African economy, whether Sachin Tendulkar should retire etc. Do you know one thing, my wife NEVER objects to any of these"

Hogenakkal Fall

Hi nature lovers,if you are adventures then you will definatly like to go here which could be called as a heaven of adventure close to nature.along with my four friend we have decided to go for adventure.in the evening we took our train and had a fun which is life time experience for me.Hogenakkal is unique as it is the only natural, traditional river spa in our land. It also offers a thrilling experience, and perhaps that is why the name means the smoke that thunders. And, as an added bonus, one can visit the giant terra-cotta village guardians, the Aiyanars, on the way to Hogenakkal.

The 15 km descent from Pennagaram to Hogenakkal snakes through very interesting terrain. In these lands, one can see villages with lush fields of mulberry, fodder for busy silkworms, and the broad-leaved though often scraggy castor. On the outskirts of the rural settlements en route are their fascinating guardian deities, often referred to as Aiyanars. Made of terracotta or plastered brick, these giant figures are brightly colored and generally depict fearsome and mustachioed warriors. But exceptions to this excessively macho rule are also seen at some places.
As the scrub-covered slopes give way to thickets of thorny vegetation and then, almost imperceptibly, when tall trees began to rise, the air reverberates, with the soft roar of running water becoming more and more assertive as one reaches lower and lower.Basket-boats, the circular vessels called Coracles have bamboo frames covered in either black plastic or buffalo hide. They wait like black mushrooms, propped against trees or upturned on the banks of the river. When the river is in spate, all the dark rocks are submerged, but if one goes there in February, which is among the most favored months to visit this riverine spa, there should not be any problem. Coracles are among the oldest types of watercraft in the world, and among the most successful-a reassuring thought when one is floating in these saucer-like devices

This is another big waterfall on the Kaveri river after Shivanasamudra. Though not as high as the earlier one, it is equally magnificent, with the river falling into a narrow gorge in several bursts of water. There is no wide open space where you can stand and watch the fall; you need to hire a coracle and get right into the gorge to be able to see it. The boatmen can take you really close to the falling water, sometimes to make the water splash into you if you wish. River here is only a little wider than Mekedatu but much mellow, flows through a narrow channel surrounded by rocks on both sides which are carved into strange shapes by the river. Boatmen say water is probably a 100 feet deep here. The channel looks lovely and the rocks look as if they were carved by an artist!

goa...Calangute beach

Along with my 4 friends i have decided to go GOA for holiday. Our train "Goa Express" was on Sunday 22nd of feb,by the morning of 23 we were in "Madgao(goa)". Then we take a bus for Kadamba Bus station from there we had to go "Panjee" ,captial of Goa.Ther is non stop Bus service from kadamba bus stand to panjee and it takes nearly half hr. Near the beach we take a room.Calangute is a census town in North Goa in the state of Goa, India. It is famous for its beach, visited by domestic and international tourists alike. The peak tourist season is during Christmas and New Year, and during the summer in May.

Water Sports At Calangute

Calangute also makes a perfect beach site if you want to indulge in some water sports activities. Parasailing, water skiing and wind surfing at the Calangute beach starts in the afternoon when the wind is blowing just in the right direction and it goes on till sunset.

Goa Calangute beach is a haven for the hippies. It was the hippies who discovered this beach in the late 60s. The exquisite beauty of the Calangute beach in India's Goa soon spread around, bringing hordes of European tourists. And this trend has still been continuing…tourists come down to this small Indian state of Goa searching for this lovely beach. Once you reach Calangute beach in Goa, then you can spend your vacation soaked in the serenity of the sea, sun and sand.
