Countdown: 8 Hari Menjelang Seleksi Tahap 1 AFS Year Program #SeleksiAFS

8 More days 'till the AFS test! Belakangan ini aku sibuk banget.. Minggu depan seleksi AFS, English & Malay MYE, udah gitu ada Chemistry Olympiad. Tapi yang paling bikin deg-deg-an adalah: AFS. Serius. MYE mah.. Bukannya gak penting ya, tapi kan udah tau format soalnya seperti apa, dan paling enggak udah latihan sejak berbulan-bulan lalu gitu lah. Chemistry Olympiad juga sebenernya nggak 100% niat. Maksudnya niat juga sih, tapi nggak terlalu menarik gitu lah ini -_-. Nah AFS... I think about it day and night. Ea. Wkwk. Tapi bener. Aku cuman tau kalo nanti ada test Pengetahuan Umum, Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Inggris. Tau sih contoh-contoh soalnya, tapi kan soal yang keluar bisa tetep aneh-aneh. Ya begitu lah. Makanya harus belajar!

Doain ya semoga lolos seleksi :D

I love mp3s

I've had one for years and years. The first 2 I got weren't iPods because I was grumpy about the fact that Steve Jobs cornered the market on downloading music. Then I finally got one and the rest is history. Damn that Jobs and his succubus iTunes.

Anyway, over the 10 years or so of me owning a "music machine" as I call it, I have a few songs that I have to have. From the machine that only held about 30 songs (if they were short) to my latest that has over 1100 and can still hold more, I copy these over without fail to every new machine. Just another one of my weird habits.

• Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega (I heard it was the first song ever recorded to mp3. It's a mini history lesson)
• She is Beautiful by Andrew WK (Great song for running. The beats are exactly my pace and I like to pretend he's singing about me)
• Blister in the Sun by Violent Femmes (never forget that I'm an 80s lady)
• How Soon is Now? by the Smiths (What can I say? I'm a bit of a fan)

That's it. Those are the songs. It isn't many because when you have an mp3 player that only holds a couple of songs, you want to rotate out as many as possible. But I just couldn't bear to ever erase those.

iTunes blues

I love iTunes. Unfortunately I shop at the store daily, convinced that my one little $.99 purchase isn't going to break the bank. Then I realise that's my 6th this week and when added up to my around 6 every week for months, it actually IS going to break the bank. It's like being pecked to death. But I do download everything that's free. Why wouldn't I?

When I listen to the radio, I often listen to a station called "BobFM". They play songs from "80's, 90's and whenever". I have to say I love that station. Why wouldn't I? They're entire playlist is on my nano. So why is it that I can listen to the radio all day but my iTunes playlist bores me after an hour? And it's not a headphones issue. It happens when I play the songs from my computer. What's up with that?

I hand-picked the songs, I bought the cds, spent a bomb at the iTunes store and lovingly put them all on my machine, sorted into various playlists (my favourites are "ad tunes" where all the songs are from tv commercials, songs I discovered from So You Think You Can Dance and one called "GASP!" for run training). So why does my own music make me crazy? It's a question for the ages.
